She transitioned peacefully on October 12, 2018 at her home. Annie attended school in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System. She became a cook and had a career with the Metro School System, HCA, Titan & Blackman, Nashville City Club and retired employed at the Scarritt Bennett Center. Annie accepted Christ at an early age. As a child, she gave her life to Christ at Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She later joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Sam Kirby. She was a faithful member that supported her church and grew stronger in her faith. She was a mother in the church and served faithfully until her failing health. Annie was a passionate cook that showed her love in making homemade rolls, strawberry cakes, caramel cakes and pigs in a blanket to name a few. Many items she made from scratch. Her family each had their own “request” and felt special when they received it or saw the items as a part of a family gathering, sometimes to the point of “challenging” one another!! She also loved working puzzles and was tickled to spend time at her table completing puzzles with up to 200 pieces. Annie was also a straight shooter who did not mince words and told you what she thought even before you asked, even if you didn’t ask. Everyone loved her for this because it was never with malice but in loving and caring for her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Patricia Ann Ensley; brother Oscar E. Murray; sisters Otha Goodman, Rosa Coplen and Ira B. Reynolds; nephews Michael Murray and Earl Coplen. She leaves to cherish her many memories grandchildren, Sermatta and LaToya French; great grandchildren, JeQuan Griffin, Tyasia and Patricia French; sister, Mildred Robinson; devoted niece, Vanessa Coplen; devoted nephew and niece, Andrew and Candace Reynolds; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces, nephews, cousins; dear friends, Joanna Teasley, Jimmy Marble, Dwight Henderson, Michael and Beverly Chatman.
