Obituary of Anita Preston Danbury – Anita “Mickey” (Herzog) Preston, age 82, of Danbury, died Sunday January 13, 2019 at Hancock Hall in Danbury. Anita was born in New York City, N.Y. on February 10, 1936 daughter of the late Henry and Anne (Loud) Herzog. She was retired from the City of Danbury after working for many years as the Secretary to the Director of Public Works and was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball and New York Yankees fan. Anita is survived by her sons: James Beckman and his wife Pam of Warren and J. Robert Beckman and his wife Shawn of Marco Island, FL, her sister; Barbara Fortin Silvia and her husband Manny, her grandchildren: Michelle Dowling and her husband Chris of Kansas, Jamie Gorton and her husband Chris of New Milford and Ashley Beckman of Southbury, and Cassie Clemens of Boston, her great grandchildren: Tucker, Harper and Sawyer Dowling and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy. Anita’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home on Wednesday January 16, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 6 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
