Aaron James Rakes OAKWOOD – Aaron James Rakes, 40, of Oakwood died at 7:47 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Sunshine Residential, Maumee. He was born January 18, 1978 in Defiance to the late Bethel Gene and Vickie Lynn (Hall) Rakes, Jr. He is survived by a brother, Johnny Rakes of Oakwood; a sister, Karisa (Rob) Long of Oakwood; a half-brother, Billy Rayle of Ft. Jennings; a special friend, Linda Zigler; two nieces Taylor Long and Karlie Rayle; and a nephew, Hunter Long. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William Hall and Dixie Good; and paternal grandparents, Bethel and Wilma Rakes, Sr. Aaron worked at Sunshine Vocational Services in Maumee. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Josh Neilson officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sunshine Communities or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
