William (Bill) Eugene Jennings, 93 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, from 11:30AM to 12:30PM, at Souder Family Funeral Home, 1333 NE Barry Rd., KCMO. Memorial Service will start at 12:30, with burial to follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS at 2:30PM. William was born Sept. 18, 1926 in Kansas City, KS to Ralph and Margaret (Davis) Jennings. He was a graduate of Rosedale High School.… Read More » A Meteorologist, William enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 16, 1950 and honorably retired September 1, 1976. While serving in the Air Force, Bill was able to travel all over the world. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Eleonore, on a train ride to Austria. They were married November 23, 1954 in Winterthur, Switzerland and remained together for the next 64 years. After retiring from the Air Force and settling down in Leavenworth, Kansas, Bill began his new career as a Weather Forecaster with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) forecasting the weather for Kansas City until his retirement. Even after retirement Bill and Eleonore continued their love of traveling around the United States and Europe. In recent years, Bill had suffered numerous medical setbacks and the family wishes to thank everyone for their love, care and good wishes while watching after him. He is survived by his wife Eleonore (Gehring) Jennings; son Douglas Jennings; grandchildren Renee Black, Brett and Drew Jennings; great grandchildren Beckham and Anderson Black, and Charlotte Jennings; sister Shirley Weber; nephews Steve and Chris Weber; niece Wendy Kruger. The family would also like to thank Great Lakes Hospice and Stonecrest Senior Living for their love and making his final days restful.
