Robert “Rob” B. Smith, 95, of Indianapolis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 10, 2018. He was born on December 9, 1923 in Kentucky to the late Benjamin and Grace Smith. He was a member of Speedway Masonic Lodge # 500 F & AM, and Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for 61 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in Germany. He enjoyed spending time with… Read More » his family, especially his grandchildren, walking the golf course with them looking for golf balls. He was a servant of the Lord, volunteering at the church in various roles. Rob was known for working on small engines and lawn mowers for many of his neighbors. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Etta J. Smith; two daughters, Cindy (Ron) Stewart, and Dottie (Tony) Self; five grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Stewart Sr., Richard B. (Tasha) Stewart Sr., Tara (Jonathan) Lawler, Tina (Stephen) List, Toni (Erik) Godsey; 11 great grandchildren; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and a great grandson. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 222 E. Epler Ave., Indianapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the church, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 222 E. Epler Ave., Indianapolis.
