Obituary of Richard Williams Richard A. Williams, 89, formerly of Howard Ave. W.E. and Baker Estates, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Monday, December 24, 2018, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, he was born May 2, 1929 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late John A. and Golda Rudd Williams. Dick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Charles H. Roan during World War II. In early years he was a truck driver for the former Maplegrove Dairy. He will be remembered mostly as the owner and operator of the 3rd St. Atlantic Service Station which he ran with his family from 1963 -1981. Before his retirement, he was a truck driver for the Yaw Oil Company for several years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion, Frewsburg, NY, the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Celoron, NY, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Jamestown Area Senior Citizens, Lucille Ball Little Theater of Jamestown and the Harmony Senior Citizens. Dick “The Boss” was a true family man who loved large family gatherings. He was an avid fan of NASCAR Racing and watching Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Dale Jr. and also enjoyed watching his son’s race at Stateline and Eriez Speedway. He loved to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sports and enjoyed the bus trips with the Jamestown Senior Citizens and his visits from the Steed Family. Surviving are his three sons; John R. (Debbie) Williams of Jamestown, NY, Timothy A. (Denise) Williams of Mooresville, NC, David S. (Carla) Williams of Williamson, NY, 8 grandchildren; Renee Williams of Cheektowaga, NY, Krista (Kelly) Vincent of Jamestown, John Williams, Jr. of Jamestown, Madilyn Loeb of Wellsville, NY, Jordan Williams, Taylor Williams both of Williamson, NY, John (Sarah) Damond and Kristina (Ian) Townsend both of Virginia Beach, VA, 7 great grandchildren, five step-children and a sister, Dorothy Galati of Jamestown, NY. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, the former JoAnn Cummings Williams whom he married April 11, 1953 and who died November 5, 1999, his second wife the former Carol Johnson Steed Williams whom he married in 2001 and who died August 27, 2018, two sisters; Jessie Westfelt, JoAnne Ostrander and two brothers; Walter Williams and Ray Williams. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Bender, Chaplain of Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday (today) in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Panama Volunteer Fire Department, 27 East Main St. Panama, NY 14767.
