Michael Paul Paterchak, 54, of Darlington, Beaver County, formerly of Whitney, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 at Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver. He was born Jan. 24, 1964, in Latrobe, a son of the late Adam D. and Evelyn S. (Merva) Paterchak. He had been employed by Stifel Nicolaus Co. in downtown Pittsburgh. Mike was a 1982 graduate of Greater Latrobe High School and received his BS degree from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1986. He led CMU’s football defense in 1983 to become the best in the NCAA. He was a member of Beaver County Lions Club and Whitney Firemens Club, and bled black and gold as a loyal Steelers fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Paterchak; and two sisters, Stephanie Grasmick and Barbara Klejka. He is survived by four children, Mick, of Elwood City, and triplets, Luke Michael, of Darlington, Jess, of Pittsburgh, and Angie Paterchak, of Darlington; and a brother, Adam Paterchak Jr., of South Carolina. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed at 1 p.m. by a funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, with the Rev. James F. Podlesny, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Florian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
