Benjamin Merrill Cameron, 72, husband of Shirley Woodberry Cameron, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Cameron was born on May 21, 1946 in Florence County, son of the late Benjamin L. Cameron and Helena Avant Cameron. He was a member of New Life Ministries, a millwright and carpenter by trade. Mr. Cameron’s passion was to hunt, fish, loved to sit around the camp fire with his brother-in-law, Jimmy and “Tell the Tales”, spending time with his grandbabies, great grandbabies and going to McDonald’s in Johnsonville and drink coffee. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Woodberry Cameron of Johnsonville; daughter, Wendy Péna of Johnsonville; grandchildren that he raised as his own children, Benjamin James Cameron of Charleston, Paul Bradley Tyler of Johnsonville, Cassandra Brooke (Casey) Barrineau of Alcolu, SC and Brittany Alicia (Carmelo) Solono-Lopez of Johnsonville; great grandchildren, Nala S-Lopez, Micah S-Lopez, Wyatt S-Lopez, Kayn S-Lopez, Kolton S-Lopez and Jacob E. Barrineau; siblings, Barbara (Edward) Powell of Hemingway and Eris Mae Fennell of Troutman, NC; brothers-in-law, Johnny Burrows of Hemingway and Harvey Campbell of Johnsonville; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cameron was preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother. A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with visitation immediately following the service.
