Mary Catherine Foster-Hurtt June 12, 1943 – December 19, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mrs. Mary Catherine Foster-Hurtt was born to the late Edward Foster and the late Elwillie Moorman Foster on June 12, 1943. She was married to Horace Hurtt for forty-nine years from that union, two children, Stephyanye Sullivan (Tino) and Reginald Hurtt and four grandchildren. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren she is survived by a brother, Sol Foster (Blondelle) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She entered eternal rest on December 19, 2018. Mrs. Hurtt retired after 37 years as a Elementary School Teacher form J.J. Fray Elementary in Campbell County. Mrs. Hurtt was twice selected for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She was educated in Union, South Carolina Public Schools. She completed her undergrad work in three years at Allen University and received her Master’s Degree at Lynchburg College and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Mrs. Hurtt was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta. Mrs. Hurtt loved her family, teaching, gardening, crafts, cake decorating and music. Gone but not forgotten. A memorial service for Mary Catherine Foster-Hurtt will be held 12p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Community Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home.
