Obituary for Mark S. Whitaker Mark S. Whitaker, age 57, of Holiday Shores, Illinois, passed away at 9:37 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018, at his residence. He was born January 27, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Larry Whitaker & the late Marge (Ewertz) Mathis & step father Don Mathis of St. Louis. Mark owned and operated his own IT consulting service for the past twelve years. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Karen M. (Marquart) Whitaker, whom he married September 21, 1987, in St. Louis. He is also survived by a son, Craig S. Whitaker of Holiday Shores; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Sutter & husband Joshua of Glen Carbon, Emily M. Whitaker of Holiday Shores; one granddaughter, Brooklyn Sutter; four sisters, Kathleen Burford of St. Louis, Laura Needham of St. Louis, Melissa Nash & husband Scott of Desloge, Missouri, Jen Hillery Whitaker & wife Michele Hillery Whitaker of St. Charles, Missouri; mother in law, brothers in law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and was a friend to many. Mark was an avid outdoorsman he loved hunting and fishing, he was also a big St. Louis Cardinals fan. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. He will be cremated according to his wishes.
