Obituary of Marie Young Marie Verel Young, 89, passed away on November 24, 2018 at her home in Dallas, Texas. Marie was born in Port Jervis, NY, to Francois Verel and Muriel Verel on July 12, 1929. She went to school at Port Jervis High School and then graduated from New Rochelle Nursing School and worked as an RN for several years. She then became a flight attendant with American Airlines and was a Kiwi for several years. She married David W. Young on June 7, 1955, in Dallas, TX, the day he graduated from medical school. Marie was always on the move and hated to sit still. She was an avid golfer and would play several times a week; she even racked up 5 holes-in-one. She also loved playing bridge any chance she could get. She was a French gourmet chef and cooked with some of the best chefs out there. She was always known for having a superior eye for fashion and had an outfit for every occasion. Her favorite thing to do in down time was to go after antiques. She was an antique dealer for many decades and would fly all over the world to find great pieces. Marie is preceded in death by her mother, Muriel Verel, and her father, Francois Verel. Marie is survived by her husband of 63 years, David W. Young, and her son, Robert Verel Young. The family of Marie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Bluebonnet Hospice, Baylor Hospital, visiting angels and all her friends and neighbors that helped make her comfortable. A Rosary and prayer/vigil was held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, November 29, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 30th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas.
