Marguerite “Maggie” A. Schwarzentraub June 18, 1948 – December 26, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Marguerite A. “Maggie” (Voigt) Schwarzentraub, 70, of Monticello, left this earthly life to return to her Creator at 10:20 p.m., December 26, 2018 at her residence. A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello, 214 S. Charter St., Monticello. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 with Pastor Paul Spangler officiating. Burial will be in Monticello Cemetery. Maggie was born on June 18, 1948 in Chicago, a daughter of Hedwig (Seidemann) and Werner Voigt. She married Les Schwarzentraub on January 24, 1970 in Morton, IL and they remained loving partners in life until her passing. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Chip (Stephanie) Schwarzentraub of Sartell, MN and Brian (Tracey) Schwarzentraub of Mahomet; five grandchildren, Sloan, Reese, Holden Schwarzentraub of Sartell, MN and Claire and Cassie Schwarzentraub of Mahomet; two brothers, Werner “Butch” Voigt of Mesa, AZ and Fred (Romaine) Voigt of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Charlotte Voigt of Oconomowoc, WI. Maggie graduated from Mooseheart High School in Mooseheart, IL, in 1966 and from Illinois State University in 1970. She worked at the Piatt County Journal-Republican in Monticello for many years and then at Human Kinetics Publishing Company in Champaign for nine years, retiring in 2010. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello, where she served as a deacon, Stephen Minister, and moderator of Presbyterian Women. Her hobbies included kayaking, bicycling, listening to music, and flying kites. She liked reading and writing, but definitely not arithmetic. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Piatt County Faith in Action, A Small Hand-Piatt County Infant Needs and Diaper Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, or the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello.
