Obituary for Margret Ruth Ashbrook Margret “Mag” Ruth Ashbrook, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on December 20, 2018. Margret was born on June 25, 1926 in Gassaway, West Virginia. She graduated from Martins Ferry High School and Ohio University. She was a teacher, a feminist, a square dancer and an avid bridge player. She also loved words, poetry and literature, and delighted in sharing her passion with others. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Ashbrook, and by her brothers William and John Lamb. She is survived by her children, Becky Westerfelt, Tom (Lisa), Michael (Danielle), and Susan; her sister Susan Graham; her grandchildren Leslie Westerfelt, Andrew (Hazel), Greg (Christine), Amy (Nick) Bolton, and Nicholas; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Friends will be received from 4-7:00pm Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad Street, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30am Thursday, December 27, 2018. Interment will follow at Alton Cemetery. Visit www.heartandhope.com to share your memories of Margret.
