OBITUARY Linn T. Christian May 10, 1933 – December 22, 2018 Linn T. Christian, 85, of Oxford well know area contractor passed away Saturday afternoon, December 22, 2018, at his home. Linn was born on May 10, 1933 in Oxford the son of Fitzhugh and Mary (Davis) Christian. He grew up in Oxford and was a 1952 graduate of the Oxford High School. During his high school years Linn was active in gymnastics, football, basketball, baseball and track. His love of sports continued throughout his life and he was an enthusiastic fan of the NY Giants and Atlanta Braves. Linn was a hard worker all of his life. In his early years he worked on the family farm, was employed by Victory Markets, worked with Dexheimer’s for 11 years and had worked with Don Phetteplace. In 1976 Linn began his own business known as Linn T. Christian Contracting. The slogan for his business was “If it’s wood we do it good”. He operated his business for over 30 years and was well known in the central New York Area. He was the second president of the local chapter of the Southern Tier Homebuilders Association. Linn was a longtime member of the Oxford Lions Club and was a former Lion of the Year. He was also a member of the Oxford, McDonough and Guilford Fire Departments and had coached little league. Linn’s family meant a great deal to him. He was very proud of his middle name, Truman, which was his grandfather’s middle name which is carried on today by his oldest son Mark, grandson Curtis and great grandson John. He was also quite proud of the fact his great grandson was born on his birthday. Linn enjoyed a full life. He enjoyed his family with whom he spent many good times and his accomplishments in the contracting business will remain for many years to come. Linn is survived by his wife Marie, whom he married on May 31, 1980, his sons Mark (Rhonda) Christian of Cincinnatus, Scott (April) Christian of Greene, step daughter Jean (Doug) Branham of GA, his siblings Sandra Carlin of Richfield Springs, Allan Christian of Wis. And Grant (Kathy) Christian of Norwich. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Linn was predeceased by his first wife Doris, an infant daughter, sister Alma Tillapaugh Van Wieren and brother Gary Christian. A funeral service for Linn will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 11 am from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Howard will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Warn Ten Broeck Cemetery. Linn’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his neighbor, Bob Law, for his thoughtfulness kindness and help during Linn’s illness.
