Irish 65, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at his home at Johnson Lake. Larry was born May 2, 1953 to Earl and Elizabeth Irish in Valentine, Nebraska. Larry moved with his family to Grand Island when he was in eighth grade. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High school with the class of 1971. During his high school years Larry was involved in football and wrestling. After graduation he was employed by Chief Industries and Miller Manufacturing in Grand Island. On July 2, 1983 he was united in marriage to Michelle Filbin at Johnson Lake. The couple remained in Grand Island until they moved full time to Johnson Lake in 1996. Larry was then employed as a Deputy Sheriff at the Dawson County Sheriffs Department in Lexington. Larry worked there for twenty years until his health forced him to retire. Larry enjoyed fishing, boating, and drinking blue yummies!, hunting, gardening and was an avid sports fan cheering on the Huskers, Sooners (mainly to irritate his Husker friends) Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Larry and Michelle especially loved their annual canoeing and later tubing trip down the Niobrara with their friends. Larry also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Michelle of Johnson Lake, one daughter Kim Irish of Anthon Iowa, one son, Zieth and wife Emily Summers of Grand Island, one brother Clay and wife Alejandra and children Tyler, Jacob, and Kellie Irish of Grand Island, one sister, Sean and husband Walter Wasserburger of Grand Island, two step-mothers; Jean McMindes and Helen Irish both from Grand Island and two sister- in- laws; Cindy Filbin and Lisa and husband Greg Kantaras and grandchildren; Anna and Juan Irish, Braylon and Jordan Summers. Larry was preceded in death by his, grandparents, father, a sister, Kelly Irish and Marlys Brindisi and his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Pat Filbin. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Reverend Anne Gahn, officiating. It was Larry’s wishes to be cremated. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
