Obituary for John P. D’Ambrosio John P. D’Ambrosio, 87, a longtime resident of Marco Island, Florida, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December, 26, 2018. He was born in Bronx, N.Y. on June 24, 1931 to the late Joseph L. D’Ambrosio and Theresa Cerone D’Ambrosio. A graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, John went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate (1958) from Fordham University. He was a very well-known and successful attorney specializing in Admiralty Law and Insurance Law. John served in the Army during the Korean War from 1955 to 1958. He reached the rank of Captain. He served in the Reserves until 1961 when he was honorably discharged. John was predeceased earlier this year by the love of his life, his wife, Marion J. D’Ambrosio. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on May 1st of this year. John is survived by their children, Susan Eddy, Laura Hagerty, James D’Ambrosio (Janet Fortunato), Carol Smith (Daniel), Marion Andolina (Gary), Nicole Egloff (James), and by their many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law Patricia Henchar. John was predeceased by his sister Rose D’Ambrosio. John shared his time between Marco Island, Florida and Irvington, New York for many years. His favorite pastimes were sailing his yacht “Utopia,” reading, and socializing with his closest friends and family. John enjoyed watching classic old movies. A man of sustaining faith, John was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and together with Marion, was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Irvington and San Marco Catholic Church in Marco Island. He loved attending mass and reciting the rosary. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Family was the ultimate joy in his life, and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him. John has rejoined with Marion, and they will continue to watch over us forever as our angels in heaven.
