Obituary for Joe M Payne Funeral Services for Joe Payne, age 78, of Burleson, Texas will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Jim Looby officiating. Interment will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery under the direction of the Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mr. Payne passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018 in Burleson. Joseph Marcus was born on October 30, 1940 in Lubbock, Texas to Walter Wade and Argie Mae Bishop. He served in the United States Army and was married to Delores Weatherford on February 9, 1963 at the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Lubbock. He was a retired iron worker and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also held both private and commercial pilot licenses and was avid marksman in pistol shooting. Joe had resided in Burleson since 1974 and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of fifty five years Delores Payne of Burleson, two sons Joseph Grant Payne and wife Shaun of Burleson and Joseph Brian Payne and wife Cheryl of Joshua, Texas; one daughter Debra Deann Clark and husband Jim of Zephyr, Texas; six grandchildren Shawn and Courtney Payne, Hayden and Cayci Payne and Parker and Marshall Clark.
