James Woodrow Jim Jones 1935 2018

Obituary of James Jones James “Jim” Woodrow Jones, 82, of Pearland, TX, peacefully passed away on the morning of December 8,2018, after a long bout with heart disease and diabetes. A third generation Houstonian known as “Sonny” by his family and close friends, he is preceded by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Jones and Wyona Cox Jones, formerly of North Houston and his wife, Brenda Copeland Jones. Jim was a graduate from Reagan High School, where he won the National Junior Achievement Award, which included a train trip to Michigan from Texas. A Navy Veteran, Jim was stationed on the Constitution in Japan, during the Korean War as a navigator. He was also a partner at J&J Orthodontics Lab located in the Galleria area for years before going into commercial real estate and gun sales. Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter and gun collector. In his later years, Jim was a constant figure at the General Store located near Country Lakes in Pearland, where Jim entertained his buddies with his fishing tales and hunting escapades. Jim is survived by his three daughters; Kari Jones Sabin of East Hampton, NY, Terri Camp Schell of Sugarland, TX and Jerri Jones Walker of Missouri City, TX. His is also survived by six grandchildren: Daniel James Ramirez, Kari Louise Ruffeno, Olivia Camp, Jay Camp, Sam Tyler Sabin and Joey Engelmeier. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Houston Humane Society or Charity Navigator, a Veteran support system and organization. Graveside services will be held at Houston National Cemetery at 10:00 am on December 19, 2018.
