Obituary for James Cornell Elder When you said, “Seek My Face,” My heart said to you,“Your face, Lord I will seek.” James Cornell Elder was born April 11, 1967 in Spring Valley, New York to Maude Christine Elder and the late John Hargrove. James resided in Chestnut Ridge, New York. He received his education from Spring Valley High School. During his early years, James was an avid football, baseball, basketball and boxing fan. He enjoyed writing poetry and listening to rap music when he had time. James also had a love for fashion and owned an extensive sneaker collection. James held a special place in the hearts of all that knew him. Everyone who knew James, knew that his love and dedication to his family was unrivaled. He was a son, a brother, a father, a friend who was known to protect those he loved and held dear. James had such a big heart and a willingness to help those in need. He also had a fabulous sense of humor that was infectious. Left behind to cherish his memories are his mother Maude Christine Elder, his siblings Christina Britt, George Elder and sister in law Damaris Moreno-Elder, his daughters Jessica and Layloni Middleton , his nephews Christopher Britt and Levi Elder and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be truly missed but never forgotten. A Fallen Limb A limb has fallen from the family tree, I keep hearing a voice that says: “Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, continue my heritage: I am counting on you, Keep Smiling and surely, the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remember all, how I am truly blessed.
