Albrecht, age 89 of rural New Douglas, IL passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at his residence in rural New Douglas, IL. He was born on Wednesday, September 4, 1929 in Binney Station, Olive Township, Madison County, IL. He was the son of Paul and Louise (Homeier) Albrecht. He was married to Brenda Bickell on January 18, 2003 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livingston, IL. Irvin worked at a young age after his fathers death. He worked as a youngster at the Homeier Dairy in Springfield and on area farms during the bailing season. He then went into the military, serving our country in the United States Army as a MP (Military Police) during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan during the war. After his discharge from military service he worked for General Motors Corvette Division in St. Louis, MO as a Supervisor for 29 ½ years. During his working years and after his retirement he also took care of the family farm. Irvin was a charter member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livingston, IL; a member of the VFW Post 1241 in Staunton, IL; and was also active with the FFA (Future Farmers of America). He enjoyed farming, gardening, cutting wood, and just being outside. Irvin is survived by his Wife: Brenda Albrecht of New Douglas, IL. His Son: Douglas Albrecht of Collinsville, IL. His Daughter: Patrice Shalenko, her husband John of Maryville, IL. 2 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. 4 Step-Children: Mike Lovsey of Williamson, IL; Zina Randle, her husband Dennis of Granite City, IL; Billie Secrest, her husband Bill of Edwardsville, IL; and Leanna Ricker, her husband Scott of Sulphur Springs, TX. 9 Step-Grandchildren and 6 Step-Great Grandchildren. 1 Sister: Marie Pursell, her husband Ron of Litchfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brothers, and 1 Sister. A Visitation for Irvin W. Albrecht will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Lesicko Funeral Home located at 271 N 2nd Street in Livingston, IL 62058. Funeral Services for Irvin Albrecht will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston, IL with Rev. Dr. Darwin Schrader officiating. Burial will be in Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, IL with Full Military Honors provided by the Staunton Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions in memory of Irvin Albrecht can be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the Boys Town Organization, www.boystown.org.
