Cobleskill- Helen P. Beagen, 89, formerly of Legion Drive and most recently of Schoharie, died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Born July 11, 1929 in Staten Island, she was the daughter of Carl and Helen (Stark) Picco. Helen was a retired teacher who had worked for many years at the Middle Country School District on Long Island. In 1994, she and her husband moved from Miller Place to Cobleskill. They became communicants of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill and were active with the Christian Service Committee. Helen was a member of the 50 Plus Club in Schoharie and volunteered at Cobleskill Regional Hospital. She cherished time spent with family and her grandchildren were the love of her life in recent years. Helen married Thomas B. Beagen on July 8, 1950 and he predeceased her on August 30, 2009. Cherishing her memories are her six children: Patricia (Henry) Bergmann of Sound Beach, Long Island, Thomas (Althea) Beagen of Dorloo, Mary Ellen Nagel of Schoharie, William (Wanda) Beagen of Patchogue, Margaret (Christopher) Blohm of Warnerville and James (Ann Marie) Beagen of Shoreham, Long Island; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 4 to 7PM on Thursday, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.
