Obituary of Harry McGavisk Harry R. McGavisk Allegany, NY Harry R. McGavisk, 90, of 2216 St. Christopher Dr. passed away Thursday (December 6, 2018) at Olean General Hospital. Born April 19, 1928 in Olean he was the son of Harry Henry and Emma Karnuth McGavisk. On August 27, 1955 in Olean he married Mary B. Ballack who predeceased him May 6, 2014. Mr. McGavisk was a graduate of Olean High School. He then enlisted in the US Army where he served from 1946 to 1947. After graduating in 1953 from the University of Buffalo, he was employed as an industrial arts teacher for the Olean Junior High School until his retirement in 1984. Surviving are a son Ian (Page) McGavisk of Glyndon, MD; a daughter Kathleen (Frank) Maduri of Olean; 3 grandchildren Emily and Olivia, both of Baltimore, MD and Betsy of Burlington, VT; 1 brother Vincent (Mary Ann) McGavisk of Dansville and several nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends on Monday (December 10, 2018) at St. Bonaventure Church from 9-9:30am. A memorial mass will follow at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The ReHabilitation Foundation, 1439 Buffalo St., Olean, NY 14760.
