Evangeline Brookes Gleason February 25 1928 – December 21 2018

Obituary for Evangeline Brookes (Gleason) Evangeline (Vange) Gleason Brookes, 90, of Grosse Pointe, MI passed away December, 21st. 2018. Vange was born to James Harold Gleason and Eleanor Lipke Gleason on the eastside of Detroit, Michigan; February 25th, 1928. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1946. She worked as a legal secretary until her marriage to Harry John Brookes on July 23, 1955 and together they built a loving home and family, raising four children in the process. Vange is survived by all four of her children; Harry (Mary Browning) Brookes, Larry (Julie Downey) Brookes, Maggie (Tim) Moore, and Barry (Heidi Jaeger) Brookes; Eight Grandchildren, and Two Great-Grandchildren who she adored. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, her parents, her sister and two brothers. Vange was a long-time volunteer at the Bon Secours Chapel in Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital, and an election official for the City of Grosse Pointe for many years. Vange was a talented seamstress, quick with a joke, and an avid baker, always with tasty treats to share. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, devoted to her kids – who always came first. A Celebration of Life will be held for Evangeline Gleason Brookes in the Bon Secours Chapel, Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital, 468 Cadieux Rd Grosse Pointe, MI, on January 19th, 2019, at 12:00 Noon.
