Eleanor Mandau of Richmond Hts., Ohio, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at her home. She was born in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Robert and Julianna Gatzke Mandau. Eleanor lived in the Cleveland area her entire life. She worked 41 years at the Cleveland Twist Drill Company along side her sister and two brothers. She retired in 1983. Eleanor was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in downtown Cleveland. She loved her church and was a member of the Altar Guild. She volunteered… Read More » to plant flowers, decorate the two Christmas Trees, and catered many of the Zion Monthly Birthday Dinners. She thoroughly cherished her nieces and nephews and thought of them as her children. They have fond memories of the “sleep-overs” and visits to Euclid Beach Park. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Molly, and her brothers, Michael, Reinhold (Dorothy), Leslie, Otto, and Rudolph. She is survived by her two sister-in-laws: Eleanor Mandau and Geraldine Mandau; seven nieces and nephews: Linda Mandau, Robert (Madelaine)Mandau, Richard Mandau, Carol (Jeff) Buetikofer, Rudolph Mandau Jr., Susan (Ed) Phillips, and Julie (Scott)Siegel. She was also a Great Aunt to eleven and a Great Great Aunt to six. Friends may call at the BRICKMAN BROS. FUNERAL HOME, 37433 EUCLID AVE. on Thursday December 27 from 3 to 7 PM, and are invited to a funeral service there on Friday December 28 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery 4566 Pearl Road, Cleveland, Ohio In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2062 East 30th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44115.
