Douglas Van “Dougle” Reece, 47, of the Bethel Community passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home. Dougle was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and graduate of Pisgah High School. In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors. Dougle loved to hunt, fish, and trap wildlife. He had a passion for working on tractors and collecting Case XX knives. He loved everybody, nicknaming them, and spending time with the kids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van & Normie Reece; and an infant brother Charles David Reece. Dougle is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shelia Whigham Reece; three brothers, Mike “Daff” and Jimmy (Carla) Reece of Bethel, and Johnny ( Mary Helen) Reece of Balsam; two sisters, Martha (Michael) Whitener and Jane Reece of Bethel; father and mother-in-law, Bruce and Betty Booher of Bethel; God daughter, Celeste Parris Lamb (Jacob) ; seven nephews, Matt (Leeanna), Spiff, Chris, Josh (Angel), Jeremy (Kandace), Cade ( Sarah), and Seth; three nieces, Sherrie (Jeff), Vanessa (Jason), and Ivey; special great niece and nephew Kaylee and Evan; along with a multitude of extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 PM, Friday, December 7,2018, at Old River Baptist Church in Canton with Pastor Nathan Ashe officiating.
