OBITUARY Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg 403 Seventh Street, Parkersburg WV 26101. Carol Jean Smith, 81, of Parkersburg died December 16, 2018 at her residence. She was born June 19, 1937 in Parkersburg a daughter of the late Edward Carlyle and Audrey Rogers Clouse. Carol began working for Dils Brothers & Company as a Department Secretary then devoted 10 years to raising her family. She returned to work for St. Joseph’s Hospital in nutritional services, where retired in 1996 after 22 years of service. She was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church since the age of 5 serving as pianist, on the worship committee, financial committee, singing in the choir, member of the lead team and the Builder’s Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed playing the piano and reading. Carol is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gene A. Smith; two children, Michelle “Missy” (Jerry) Wright of Aberdeen, MD, Mark E. (Winnie) Smith of Clarksburg; and four grandchildren, Sean and Katie Wright and Eliza, Louisa and Owen Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death one sister, Shirley Duarte and one brother Roger Clouse. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial Contributions can be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 715 16th Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
