Bill Thompson went to meet his Lord and Savior surrounded by family and close friends in the Hurricane Community. He was born June 27,1946 in Flat Rock in Benton County, Mississippi, son of Dancy Felon Thompson and Lexa Renick Thompson. He dedicated his life to being a servant for the Lord. Bro. Bill spent a number of years as a missionary and pastor in the Midwest before moving to Mississippi to pastor Oak Dale Baptist Church where he has been for 32 years. Bro. Bill loved preaching and talking about God’s abundant Grace. He was full of life. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. In his spare time, Bro. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching/ talking about Alabama football, gardening, tending to his animals, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Charlotte Thompson, son Kurt Thompson (Trudie) of Hurricane, daughter Stephanie Nichols (Joe) of New Albany, five grandchildren Anna Claire Rorie (Sam), Renick Ross (Sara), Elizabeth Thompson, Joe Edmon Nichols III, and Emme Thompson; one great grandchild Cooper Rorie; one step granddaughter Alee Clements (Matthew); two brothers Donald Thompson (Beverly) and Jerry Thompson (Pam) and one sister Lee Earl (Honey) Nicholson. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Winston Ervin Ross, and one granddaughter Sara Kathryn Grace Nichols. The pallbearers include: Al Britt, Mark McCarter, Jimmy Holley, Ray Holland, Tim Buchanan, Bilbo Russell, Chance Graham, and Todd Curtis. The honorary pallbearers are the Deacons and Men of Oak Dale Baptist Church. The visitation will be held Thursday December 20, 2018 from 4 – until, with the services being held Friday December 21, 2018 at 11 am with viewing beginning at 10 am. All services be held at Oak Dale Baptist Church in Hurricane Community with Bro. Matt Rayburn, Bro. Jimmy Russell, and Bro. JW Owen officiating. In Lieu of flowers: Oak Dale Baptist Church Building Fund. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
