Obituary of Brian Silkworth Brian J. “Poobah” Silkworth, 52, of Poughkeepsie, died on December 13, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A lifelong area resident and graduate of Arlington High School, he was born on December 18, 1965 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was the son of the late George S. and the late BettyJean Robinson Silkworth Sr. On November 23, 1993, Brian married the love of his life, Diane M. (Ludwig) Silkworth at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Brian leaves behind his wife Diane; his daughter Melanie L. Silkworth of Millbrook NY; his Grandchildren Brandan, Mariah and Dominick Reyes; his brother George S. Silkworth Jr. & wife Shawn of Red Hook, NY; his sister Jan M. Dewey and husband Steve of Salt Point NY; and sister-in-law Linda Silkworth as well as his nephews William, Wade, Adam and Jesse Silkworth; and nieces Taylor Dewey and Georgie Cappelletti. He was pre-deceased by his brother Craig Silkworth. Brian worked for 27 years at the Arlington Central School District doing plumbing, heating and welding. Previous to that, he started his career working for his father at S&H Welding in Poughkeepsie NY. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing with his Grandson Brandan and played for many years on the men’s softball leagues throughout Dutchess County. He also attended every one of his daughter’s softball games over the 10 years she was an active player and helped to coach as well. Many of Brian’s friends knew him as “Poobah”, the nickname he was given growing up in Rochdale. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 19 from 5pm-8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie NY 12603. Burial will be private at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie NY.
