Mrs. Carter was born on September 19, 1946 in Washington County to the late Claude Walker and Gladys Odom Walker. She was a secretary at the NC DOT bridge yard in Martin County. She loved fishing and gardening, fish fries and the beach. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, James Saunders Carter of the home; son, James Saunders Carter, Jr. of Stacy, NC; daughter, Hope Williams (Ray) of Ayden, NC; sisters, Claudia Beachum, Judy Liles and Beverly Perry all of Plymouth; grandson, Jayden Williams and Matthew Whitaker; granddaughter, Megan Whitaker. A memorial service will be held on Friday December 28, 2018 at 4 PM at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Williamston. Visitation will follow the service.
