Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Eugene C. Cross, Jr. and Elizabeth M. Cross and wife of Earl E. Valyou, Sr., for 58 years prior to his death in 2013. She resided in Melrose most of her life and was the owner and operator of Bettygene’s Dog Grooming in Melrose for several years. Educated in both Albany and Schaghticoke school districts she enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting and all kinds of crafts. Bettygene is survived by her children, Earl E. Valyou, Jr., of Melrose, Dawn M. Bouchard of Florida, Michael S. Valyou of Alaska and David P. Valyou of Melrose. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Frank P. McDonald and Son Funeral Home, 870 – 2nd Ave, Troy, NY, on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11:00am – 12:00pm. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waterford.
