OBITUARY Betty Jean Hartman January 18, 1931 – December 20, 2018 Betty Jean Hartman, age 87, of Arvada, Colorado passed away on Thursday December 20, 2018. Betty Jean (Hanna) Hartman was born Jan. 18, 1931 in Greeley Colorado. She was the adored & only child of Mark & Iva Hanna. Her Great Aunt, Cornelia Hanna was a strong influence in her life as well as her children’s lives. She grew up in the Congress Park area of Denver, attending East High School & graduating in 1949. She spoke often of planting & tending their Victory Garden with her mother during WWII there, as well as riding the trolly cars through Denver during her High school years. She learned her love of cooking from her mother & Great Aunt. She was an excellent cook & enjoyed a life long learning of new recipes & techniques. She passed this passion on to her kids and grandkids. It is said that her favorite recipe was whatever the person she was cooking for loved. She met & married the love of her life, George Hartman, and they shared 57 years together. His passing was a great loss for her. Together they raised four amazing kids, Scott, Nancy, George & Mark. From that, they have five grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren. Betty went to college in 1971 at the age of 40. She obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Lutheran Hospital her entire career until she retired. Betty & George shared a passion for camping & traveling. They regularly took the four kids and a dog on family vacations and many camping trips. After their children were raised and gone, they traveled extensively throughout the United States in their RV’s. They took multiple cruises including Alaska & the Panama Canal as well as world travels that included Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, England, Ireland, Scotland, The Caribbean and Puerto Rico. After a series of accidents, Betty passed from this plane on Dec. 20, 2018. She returned home, free of the restrictions of age & disease, reunited with those she loved. Bon Voyage Betty, you will be missed.
