Antone Tony Castro 2018

Antone “Tony” Castro passed away on December 10, 2018, in San Leandro. He was born on September 9, 1933.He leaves behind, his son, David Castro, and wife Teri. His Granddaughter’s, Kelsey and Madison Olivetti all from Castro Valley. His sister, Margaret Dambley, and Brother-in-law, Earl Dambley from San Leandro. His Nephew, Steve Rodrigues, and wife Denise from Carmichael, CA. His Nephew, Don Rodrigues, and wife Debi from Florida. Two Great nieces, a Great Nephew, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Friends. Tony was pre-deceased by his parents Antone and Roseline Castro. Tony was a graduate of San Leandro High School. He learned to play the drums, and formed his own band while still in high school. After graduation he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. Back in civilian life, he returned to his love of music. He worked professionally for over 60 years. Besides playing in night clubs throughout the Bay Area, he also played in Reno, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Palm Springs. He especially enjoyed playing with his band, “Tony Castro and Friends,” on the Princess Cruise Line, with his singer, Karen Salentine, and keyboardist, Bob Enos. He will be forever, a missing link in the family who loved him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Santos and Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave in San Leandro, CA.
