Obituary for Richard Douglas Abernathy Richard Douglas Abernathy, 68, of Marietta, GA, passed away on November 24th, 2018. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 28th at 2:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Abernathy is survived by his sons, Ricky (Holly) Abernathy; Darrell Abernathy; daughter, April (Bert) Chapman; and his grandchildren, Grace, Eli, Boston, and Dallas. Mr. Abernathy is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. E.R. Abernathy and Mrs. Evelyn Abernathy (nee Gilbert). He was born in Marietta on March 3rd, 1950. He was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and NASCAR. In his spare time, he enjoyed his garden and fishing.
