Obituary for Rev. Dr. Leon L. Nicholsen Rev. Dr. Leon L. Nicholsen, 87, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community in Franklin, IN. He was born February 14, 1931 in Moholl, North Dakota to Nevius L. Nicholsen and Frances (Watson) Nicholsen. Survivors include his wife Ramona (Judy) Nicholsen of Franklin, IN; two sons Phillip Nicholsen of San Francisco, CA and Mark Nicholsen (Vickie) of Piedmont, OK; four grandchildren Victoria Nicholsen, Jennifer Nicholsen, Shane Nicholsen, and Eric Nicholsen; two sisters Beverly Hegelson (Marlan) of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Bonnie Richardt (Joseph) of Huntingburg, IN; and a half-brother Greg Jorgenson (Kathy) of North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Dr. Jean Nicholsen; three brothers Wayne Nicholsen, Joe Nicholsen, and Gene Nicholsen. Rev. Nicholsen attended Taylor University Class of ‘53, Christian Theological Seminary, earning a M.Div. and Ph.D in Ministry. With over 45 years in ministry, he served churches in Herbst, Liberty Center, Churubusco, Kokomo Grace, Sheridan, Fortville and Indianapolis Christ, retiring in June of 1997. The Reverends Jeff Buck, Ben Greenbaum, and Robert Hunt will conduct a Celebration of Life service Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11AM at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 West Stones Crossing Road, in Greenwood, IN where friends may call from 9AM until service time at the church and as a request of the family, everyone is asked to wear bright colors to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
