Obituary for Mary Pauline Smith (McLaughlin) Mary Pauline McLaughlin Smith, age 89, Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Erwin Health Care. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi and a daughter of the late Ephiam V. and Rosy B. Campbell McLaughlin. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and attended Maranatha Tabernacle. She loved going to church and singing. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Clinton Smith on September 30, 1996; one son, Gary Smith on April 8, 2002; two brothers: Frank and Henry McLaughlin. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Judy Barnett (Wayne), Erwin; one brother, Bobby McLaughlin, Erwin; two sisters: Minnie White, Unicoi and Betty Francis, Jonesborough; two grandsons: Thomas Barnett (Whitney), Blaine, TN and Terry Barnett (Samantha), Erwin; four special great granchildren: Gabriel, Haley, Ella and Emma; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Erwin Health Care staff for their excellent care. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the hour of service on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend E. L. Wheeler will officiate at the 2:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Queenie Wheeler. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery.
