Born June 18, 1937 in Lake Mills, Iowa to George J. and Mabel Irene Johnson (Gilbertson), she graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1955. She married Dr. Dennis D. Thoen of Kensett, Iowa on August 29, 1959. She lived her entire married life in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bonnie devoted her life to raising her four children, promoting Redeemer Lutheran School and Salt Lake Lutheran High School, and caring for the homeless and elderly. She had a strong connection to nature, loved her dogs, antiquing, woodworking, crochet, and traveling with her family in the RV. She was preceded in death by both her parents, and both brothers, Mylan and Lowell Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Dennis D. Thoen of Salt Lake City, Utah, children LaRynda (Neil Salyapongse) of Madison, Wisconsin, Tory (LeAnn) of Salt Lake City, Erica (Georgette Leventis) of Salt Lake City, and Kirsten Thoen of New York City.
