Joan E. Olson, 79, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Joan Olson passed away on November 27, 2018 at The Arbors in Shelburne, VT. Born in Boston, MA to Evelyn and Carl Nelson, Joan lived in Quincy, MA, and graduated from No. Quincy High in 1956. She worked as a secretary in the auditing department of the First National Bank of Boston. In 1961, Joan married James Olson and continued to work part-time in many businesses until their first son James, Jr. was born. Joan and her family have spent time living in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and North Carolina before settling in Charlotte, Vermont in 1972 and retiring to Colchester in 2003. Joan is survived by her husband of 57 years, daughter Jill Watson and husband Steven of Vancouver, WA, son James, Jr. and wife Judithanne of Colchester, VT, and son Jeffrey and wife Amy of Henrietta, NY. The special joys of her life have been her grandchildren: Megan, James, III, and Bailey of Colchester, VT; Katarina and Abigail of Vancouver, WA; and Evan and Keir of Henrietta, NY. Joan’s final few years were spent struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, resulting in her residence at The Arbors. The family gives special thanks for the dedicated care and love Joan received from all the angels disguised as care givers at this wonderful facility. You will forever be in our hearts. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 30, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1, at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Charlotte. Burial will be in the spring at Grandview Cemetery in Charlotte.
