Gregory B. Smith, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully, attended by family on November 17, 2018 in Ann Arbor, MI from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Greg was born in Saginaw, MI to Bernard and Elizabeth. He was a graduate of St. Louis High School, Class of 1968. He was a people person who truly appreciated his many dedicated employees. Greg went on to have a second career in commercial real estate brokerage and was employed by Resource Commercial Real Estate in Indianapolis, IN for the past 10 years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane and their two daughters, Danielle (Brad) King of Indianapolis, IN and Allison (Dan) James of Grand Ledge, along with grandchildren Jenna and Braden James of Grand Ledge, MI; brother Gary Smith of St. Louis, MI, sister Gloria (Bill) Kunik of Annapolis, MD, brother-in-law Michael (Melissa) Crower of Midland, MI, sisters-in-law Kate (Paul) Maitland of Brighton, MI and Nora Crower of Gulf Shores, AL; cousins Bill (Corinne) Smith of Sanford, MI and Diane (Jerry) Kirkey of Alma, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Smith and Elizabeth Fletcher; in-laws Richard and Virginia Crower and brother-in-law John Crower. Greg enjoyed playing in a golf league with a group of great friends and putting on an annual golf outing with his best buddies to benefit various charities. He also enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandchildren. His favorite hobby was watching his grandchildren play their various sports – so much so, he recently moved closer for that very reason. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with visitation from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. An additional memorial service will be held on January 12, 2019 at Shirley Brothers Fisher-Castleton Chapel in Indianapolis, IN.
