OBITUARY George Chris Leventis Sr. June 26, 1949 – October 27, 2018 George Chris Leventis, Sr., 69, passed away in Greenville, SC on October 27, 2018, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was surrounded by family and is finally at peace. George was born on June 26, 1949, in Columbia, SC to Chris P. and Kathryn K. Leventis. George’s life was filled with laughter, family, faith, and friends by whom he will forever be remembered for his big warm embrace, gentle nature, and outgoing spirit. George loved his children and is survived by his daughter Kristianna Cantrell (Todd) of Simpsonville, SC; his son George Chris Leventis, Jr. (Tricia) of Greenville, SC; his daughter Renee Leventis of Atlanta, GA, and his son Gabriel Leventis (Mary) of Simpsonville, SC. George also loved being “Papou” to Zoe, Marley, and Jack Leventis; Samuel and Gabbi Cantrell; and Maxwell Leventis. George is also survived by his sister, Georgianna Paul (Dennis) of Washington, DC; his sister, Trula Wright (John) of Charlottesville, VA; his sister-in-law, Jean Cox of Reston, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was predeceased by his brothers James C. Leventis and Christopher A. Leventis. When asked, George would say that his greatest joys in life where his children and their grandchildren. He also loved his siblings deeply, and thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a large Greek network and community. George completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Virginia, and then later his law degree at the University of South Carolina. Professionally, he worked on the Education Committee at the State House in Columbia, SC, and was later an attorney for the South Carolina Department of Education working closely with several Superintendents. There will be a receiving of family and friends at 9:30am on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Grace Church, 204 Harrison Bridge Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680, immediately followed by a Memorial Service celebrating his life. We welcome all to stay for refreshments and fellowship with the family afterwards.
