Obituary for Gary Owen Fortson Gary Owen Fortson, 61, of Jefferson City, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 2, 1957, in Jefferson City, a son of Malcolm Wilbur and Minnie Jewel (Fisher) Fortson. On May 2, 1981, he was united in marriage to Melody Branson at Calvary Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Gary was employed at Command Web Offset Company. He enjoyed playing video games, riding his Harley Davidson and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Along with his wife of 37 years, Melody, he is survived by his son: Dustin Fortson of Jefferson City; mother: Minnie Fortson of Jefferson City; and siblings: Harlan Fortson of Jefferson City, Prudy Garber of Jefferson City, Malcolm Fortson (Paula) of Nixa, Rodney Fortson (Becky) of Westphalia, Rhonda Schmidt of Jefferson City, Mike Fortson of Jefferson City, Paul Fortson (Jennifer) of California, Carolyn Dixon (Ron) of Auxvasse and Doug Fortson of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his father: Malcolm Fortson. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Central Missouri Honor Flight.
