Obituary for Estelle “Blondie” Pivonka Estelle Luksa Pivonka, 90, passed away November 16, 2018 in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20th , 6- 8p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 21st at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Estelle Lydia Luksa Pivonka was born November 17, 1927 in Burleson County, Texas to Anton and Julia Hlavaty Luksa. Estelle graduated from Caldwell High School in 1946 and married Henry Pivonka on November 19, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell. And to this union were born two children, Ron and Patricia. They lived in the country and farmed and raised cattle. She lived a simple life working on the farm, gardening, cooking and raising two children. She and her husband liked being with family and having her brother and sister’s over while cooking Barbecue and laughing and cutting up, having good clean fun as she called it. They celebrated all special occasions and played cards and dominoes. Estell was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Alter Society. Her real passion was Manuel’s Fashion Center where she worked since the business opened. She began working on Saturdays before she graduated high school. Manuel and Miriam Feigenbaum called her “Blondie”. So, people always called that lady “May I help you find something”. During this time, she lost her husband, Henry on May 30, 1975. She really enjoyed visiting with all the customers, talking Czech and watching what was happening on the streets of Caldwell until she retired in 2012 after 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Joseph and Anton Luksa, her four sisters, Mary Hejl, Vlasta Goen, Albina Blaha and Edwina Hejl. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Linnstaedter and husband Richard, and her son Ron Pivonka and wife Lisa. Her grandchildren are Crystal Hopkins and husband Jeremiah, Christopher Linnstaedter and wife Kimberly, Grace Pivonka, and Audrey Pivonka. One great grandchild, Mitchell Betar. Pallbearers are John D. Piwonka, Dennis Piwonka, Chris Linnstaedter, David Piwonka, Mark Piwonka, and Tony Lee Luksa. Honorary pallbearers are Leroy Zavodny, Jr. and Jerry Schafer. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation made in her name to Brazos Valley Hospice, St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the charity of their choice.
