Obituary for Ernest Allen “Ernie” Welch Ernest “Ernie” Allen Welch, 53, husband of the late Wanda R. Welch, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his home. Born August 8, 1965 in Sumter, he was a son of Charles D. Welch, Sr. and Grettis Grooms Welch. He was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church and was the owner of Welch’s Electrical Company. Survivors include his parents of Sumter; two brothers, Charles D. “Chuck” Welch, Jr. (Kim) of Sumter and Mark J. Welch of Dalzell; a sister, Linda Holliday (Mike) of Sumter; nieces and nephews, Lindsey Hayden, John Ammons, Jessica Ammons, Brooke Staniec, Caitlin Prince, and Cody Welch; great-niece, Henley Hayden; and great-nephew, Jason Michael Staniec. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Richardson and the Rev. Ron Underwood officiating. Burial will be in the Springvale Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to New Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 848, Sumter, SC 29151. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
