Obituary for Edgar Louis “Bob” Herzer Edgar Louis “Bob” Herzer, age 87 of Georgetown, formerly of Rockdale, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Georgetown, days shy of his 88th birthday. He was a resident at Tiffin House Assisted Living and Memory Care in Georgetown, Texas where he received loving care for the past two years. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial in the McDade Cemetery in McDade, Texas at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1st at the funeral home. Edgar was born December 19, 1930 on the Herzer farm near Coupland, Texas, the son of Edgar Christian and Emma (Kastner) Herzer. He spent most of his youth in McDade, Texas. He always liked to build things and see how things worked. He especially loved working with cars. At the age of 16, he built a model T to drive around McDade. Edgar worked as a mechanic in a garage before joining the U.S. Army in 1952 at the age of 21. He served at Fort Sheridan in Chicago, Illinois until his honorable discharge in 1954. Edgar began working at ALCOA in Rockdale in 1955. He worked there for almost 38 years, retiring in 1993. After Edgar’s discharge from the Army, he moved back to Texas, met and married his wife, Dorothy Ann Peschke on September 8, 1956 in Giddings, Texas. They had two children Cynthia and Ronnie. Edgar and Dorothy lived in Rockdale until 2016 when they moved to Tiffin House in Georgetown. Edgar and Dorothy celebrated 62 years of marriage this year. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillia Irene Meyer and Doris Ann Barre. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Kenneth Koscielniak; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Amy Herzer; and his grandchildren, Sarah Herzer and Dylan Herzer as well as many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Steve Reinhart, Kenneth Peschke, Fred Peschke, David Estlack, Steve Sweet, Dylan Herzer.
