Obituary for Winifred “Winnie” Damalcago (Sitcer) WATERVLIET – Winifred “Winnie” Damalcago, 90, peacefully entered into eternal life, on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Winifred was born and raised in Albany, NY, and was the daughter of the late Richard and Martha (Palmer) Sitcer. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 62 years, John and their son, John, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (James) Kapusnik, Cynthia (David) Johnsen, Linda (Johnie) Dow and Josie (James) Dolder. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, James (Jamie) Kapusnik, Jr., Casey, Courtney and Chelsea Johnsen, Josephine (Sean) Benack and Marianna Dow and Linda and Jillian Dolder. She also enjoyed the times spent with her two great-grandchildren, Everly Willow Benack and Jacob Kapusnik. Winnie was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking shopping, crocheting, bingo, bowling and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She also enjoyed the times spent with her many friends at the Hanratta Apartments. Winnie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care and support that our mom received. We also offer a big thank you to Sheila, mom’s special aide. A private service will be held for Winifred and she will be interred in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. There will be no public visiting hours. To remember Winnie in a special way and in recognition of the wonderful care she received at Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, her family suggests that donations be made to them for patient activities at 100 New Turnpike Road, Troy, NY 12182.
