Walter G. Reiner, age 74, beloved husband, father and entrepreneur passed away unexpectedly at home on September 30, 2018. Curious about everything, he was an avid philanthropist, horticulturalist and dabbler in just about everything. Born in Columbus in 1943 to the late Gustav and Bertha Reiner. Graduate of Aquinas College High School, class of 1961. Received his Bachelors Degree from The Ohio State University and Master’s Degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War where he was a Captain supporting Special Operations. Owner of Reiner Realty and Consultants. Board Member of the Ohio Military Hall of Fame, Franklinton Historical Society and Johnny Appleseed Foundation. Chair of Planning and Economic Development on the North Linden Area Commission. Member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, Wheaton Club and Germania Club. Survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lois; children, Adam (Shan), Bethany (John) and Alex (Carynne); grandson, Hank; brothers, Karl (Martha), Paul (Sheila) and John (Sheila); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street where a Funeral Service with Military Honors will begin at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Aquinas Scholarship Fund, c/o Gary Mangini, 2009 Hayer Court, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035 or the Ohio Military Hall of Fame, c/o James Garvey, 4840 Patricia Lane, Westerville, Ohio 43082.
