Wade O Ledford 2018

Waynesville-Wade Ledford, age 89, passed away peacefully at the Homestead in Clyde, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Wade was born to the late George and Bertha Ledford and was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, LuAnn Ledford; two brothers, Robert Ledford and Weaver Rathbone; one sister, Beulah Arrington and a brother-in-law, Melvin Messer. He is survived by his dearest wife of 70 years, Lois Ledford; two sons, Keith (Gwen) Ledford and Kevin Ledford; one sister, Hilda Messer; three grandchildren, Andy (Courtney) Ledford, Will Ledford and Erin Henson; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Campbell all of Waynesville; along with multiple nieces, nephews, friends and his best friends, Doug Edwards, Ronnie and Cale Shelton, Jack Lewis and Joe Price. Wade is a Korean War Veteran in the United States Army and a faithful Baptist who attended Lake Junaluska First Baptist Church for many years. He worked as a laborer at Dayco where he retired after 38 years of service. Wade also enjoyed his many mornings at Hardees with the retirees of Dayco and listening to the music at Pickin’ in the Park in Canton. His favorite hobbies included coon hunting and fishing when the weather was just right. But most of all, Wade loved spending time with his family who he loved, and they loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Smoky Mountain Chapel with Reverend Nick Smith officiating. The family will receive friend from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow the services at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery with full Military Honors. Acting as pallbearers will be, Howard Messer, Doug Edwards, Ralph Arrington, Mike Messer, Mitchell Rathbone, Phil Price, Randy and Steve Parkins.
