Obituary for Virgil Bently Scoggins Virgil Bently Scoggins, age 73, of Hixson, died Monday, October 22, 2018 at Memorial North Park in Hixson. He was born on October 4, 1945 in Birchwood. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents Charles Andrew and Rachael Pearl (Grizzle) Scoggins, and his brothers Charles “Sam” Scoggins and James Thomas Scoggins. Virgil lived in the Hixson, Chattanooga area most of his life. He graduated from Birchwood High School, Class of 1963. Virgil was a semi truck driver and a fan of Drag Racing, Nascar and Tennessee Vols. He was a member of the Clear Creek Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Lewis) Scoggins of Hixson; son, Thomas (Irene) Scoggins of Hixson; son, Jason (Emily) Norman of Soddy Daisy; daughter, Heather (Chris) Dowdy of Portland, OR; his grandchildren, Peyton Scoggins, Aveline Norman, Adele Fierro, Ian Buttigieg and Nathan Norman; his brother, Ronald Scoggins of Hixson; and his sister, Alta (Steve) Hall of Dayton. A graveside service for Virgil will be held Thursday at 12:00 noon at Scoggins Cemetery in Harrison with Rick Farney officiating.
