Obituary for Sybil McAbee (Upchurch) lGaffney — Sybil Beactrice Upchurch McAbee, 64, of 170 Whites Road, passed away Friday, September 28th, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Cherokee County, she was the widow of Michael Lee McAbee and the daughter of the late Arthur “Cosmo” Upchurch and Moree Sutton Upchurch. Mrs. McAbee retired as a housekeeper and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. McAbee is survived by two sons, Jeffrey McAbee of Gaffney and Michael McAbee of Blacksburg; one daughter, Tammy Jones of Gaffney; three brothers, Bill, David, and Toby Upchurch, all of Gaffney; one sister, Kathy Whiteside of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Heather Duncan, Chandler Jones, Michael Stepp, Michelle Stepp, Kevin White, Kaylee McAbee, and Leeah McAbee; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Eubanks. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney, 211 E. Frederick St. Gaffney, SC 29340. Memorial services will immediately follow at 5:00 pm with Rev Greg Little officiating. Memorials may be made to Sybil McAbee Funeral Fund, c/o Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney, 211 E. Frederick Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family will be at the residence of Jeff McAbee at 553 Whites Road, Gaffney, SC. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
