Sr Carmela Wyzykowska 1934 2018

Obituary of Sr. Carmela Wyzykowska Sister Carmela (Theresa) Wyzykowski, Sister of Christian Charity, entered eternal life on October 6, 2018, at the Motherhouse, Mendham, NJ Sister was 84 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, PA, January 3, 1934, Sister Carmela was the daughter of Apolonia (Adamik) and Walter Wyzykowska. Sister entered the Sisters of Christian Charity on September 7, 1952, professed her first vows on August 21, 1953 and made her final profession vows on August 21, 1968. Her years of ministry were in the field of Catholic education, having served as an elementary teacher in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and as secondary teacher in New Jersey. In addition, she served as an elementary principal in New Jersey. After her years in education she worked as a Pastoral Assistant in a parish in Pennsylvania and later in in-patient registration and volunteer work at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. Following her years of apostolic service, Sister was assigned to Holy Family Convent in Pennsylvania due to health reasons and in May of 2018 moved to the new Motherhouse in Mendham, New Jersey. Sister Carmela is survived by her nieces, Vickie O’Neil of Philadelphia and Terry Maloney of Wildwood, New Jersey. Viewing will be Monday, October 8 from 2-4 pm with Evening Prayer at 7:00 in the Chapel of Mary Immaculate, Motherhouse, Mendham, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 9 at 11:00 am at the Motherhouse with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery on the Motherhouse property. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sister Carmela, can be made to the Sisters of Christian Charity, Mendham, NJ
