Shirley “Jane” McGinnis, age 85, of Mattoon passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Mattoon Healthcare. Memorial Mass honoring her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 320 North 21st Street, Mattoon, IL 61938. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family. (Sally) McGinnis, Rose Epperson (Kris Kolpino), Steve McGinnis and Joyce Bushue; grandchildren, Aaron Lewis, Nathan McGinnis, Ryan McGinnis, Sean McGinnis, David Epperson, Alan Epperson, Angelina McGinnis, Joessa McGinnis and Kolton McGinnis; sisters, June (Kenneth) Wilkinson and Susan Dare. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sarah Packer and brother, Donald Wilkinson. Jane was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon. She worked for several years at General Electric. At 40 years old, Jane put herself through nursing school. She worked as Director of Nursing at Douglas Rehabilitation before her retirement. Jane enjoyed gardening, listening to Pavarotti and had a love for cats. She was a ‘tell it like it is’ kind of person. Jane will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
